Some Twitch emotes outlast trends because they capture a feeling instantly. Kreygasm is one of them — a face frozen in over-the-top ecstasy that chat deploys whenever a moment is too good, too dirty, or too hype for words.
Kreygasm meaning
The name makes the joke obvious. Kreygasm shows Justin.tv-era streamer Kreyg leaning back with his mouth open in the midst of gaming ecstasy.
You will see it when something suggestive happens on stream, when a player hits a ridiculous clip, or when chat simply wants to exaggerate shock and excitement. It is one of Twitch’s oldest reaction emotes and still one of the most recognizable.
Kreygasm origin
Kreygasm dates back to 2011. According to Kreyg, Justin.tv employee Hassan Bokhari asked him to submit an emote for global chat; he initially said no, then changed his mind after an inside joke kept running in his channel.
In August 2011, viewers coined “Kreygasm” live on stream. Kreyg posed for the photo that became the emote, and Twitch added it to the global roster on September 3rd, 2011. It has been a platform staple ever since.
